Can you dock a switch lite?

Can you dock a switch lite

Being able to play Nintendo Switch on the go is great, but sometimes you might want to be able to hook it up to a TV. Unfortunately, the cords for connecting your switch are not reversible, so what do you do if you have only one port that’s facing the wrong way? The problem with this issue is that there isn’t any official solution from Nintendo yet. There are, however, two possible workarounds: docking your switch lite or using an adapter. Can you dock a switch lite?

No, you can’t. Because the switch lite is so much smaller than the original Nintendo Switch, it does not fit into any of the docking stations that are currently available for purchase by Nintendo. There are third-party companies that have created different solutions to allow users to connect their switch lites to TVs, but using these will void any warranty you have on your console. Additionally, we do not recommend using third-party docks for the switch lite as they are unregulated and there is no guarantee they will work correctly. Why can’t you dock the Switch Lite?

The Switch Lite is on the cheaper end of Nintendo’s product line and has a lower resolution screen, which means there are some significant hardware differences between it and the original Nintendo Switch. In addition, there are currently no docking stations available for purchase by Nintendo (or by third-party companies) that allow the switch lite to be docked because these docking stations require a high-resolution screen and a more powerful processor.

Accessories will my switch lite work with

Your Switch Lite is compatible with most Nintendo Switch accessories, such as joy-cons, the joy-con grip controller, pro controller, etc. You can even use an accessory you have previously purchased for your original Nintendo Switch if you purchase a USB-C to HDMI Adapter.

Will adapters work for the switch lite?

There are currently several different third-party companies that make accessories to allow your switch lite to be connected to a TV. Below is a list of the most popular options:

Nintendo Switch Lite TV Connection Kit – This kit comes with a USB-C to HDMI Adapter and a USB-C Charging Cable.

Nintendo Switch TV Dock – Nintendo officially licenses this dock, but it isn’t available for purchase until October 2019.

Simply use a USB-C to HDMI Adapter with a USB-A to USB-C Cable. However, some users have reported that their switch lite will not work with this method, so there is no guarantee it will work.

How do I hook up my switch lite to TV?

1) Connect your USB-C to HDMI Adapter into your Nintendo Switch Lite’s charging port.
2) Plug the other end of the adapter into a spare USB-A port on your TV.
3) Connect a USB-C to USB-C Charging Cable from your switch lite’s power port to the other end of the adapter.
4) Turn on your TV and set it to the HDMI input that you have plugged your cable into.
5) Turn on your Nintendo Switch Lite by pressing the home button, then select the option to connect your device to the TV.
6) Once your switch lite has started up, you will be able to play it on your TV!
Although being able to play on your Nintendo Switch Lite on the go is great, there are certain features of the original Nintendo Switch that you will miss out on if you don’t have access to a TV. Fortunately, because most third-party accessories are USB-C compliant, it is relatively easy to set up your switch lite with a TV!
