Everyone loves spending time outdoors in the summer, but what about when the weather starts to get hot? Do you have an outdoor patio that’s difficult to keep cool? If so, you’re not alone. Plenty of people struggle to keep their patios cool in the summertime, and some even go as far as to install air conditioning on their patios. However, installing air conditioning on your patio is not the best solution. In fact, it can actually ruin the look of your patio and make it difficult to enjoy. Here are a few ways to keep your patio cool.

Insulate your patio

If you aren’t lucky enough to have an outdoor covered patio, a solution is to insulate. Insulation can come in the form of building walls and arranging furniture around your patio space so that cold air does not easily flow through the area. If possible, seek out some professionals who specialize in working with insulation products for this type of work; otherwise, aim high by laying down large blankets on your patio floor and against all nearby objects such as fences or walls.

Keep plants on your patio

Plants are great for bringing in a lot of shade. However, as soon as the sun starts to heat up, you need to protect your plants. If possible try keeping your patio relatively shaded during the day; however, if that’s not possible use some additional shades or covers that will help keep out sunlight while still allowing wind and rain through.

Windbreak trees can help stop most types of air conditioning on a portable air conditioner enclosure should you find yourself in a hot neighborhood.

Place coolers inside

You can also consider placing a portable air conditioner on wheels. A small box that will cool the patio, much of your house, and even the shade that it casts as well to keep warm in an open space is an option worth considering if you want more options for both starting up several hours each day or at night when temperatures begin to drop into the low 90s outside.

Ensure good ventilation

The next benefit that you want to look for in patio coolers is good ventilation whether as a solution or one of the considerations used at all times. The latest air conditioning models come with casement and round vent options, this opens up more opportunities because these types of advantages can be applied when deciding what type of portable cooling system will work best for your needs.

A cover such as mesh screens offers more coverage than simple window blinds but they are not ventilation accessories that can bring in the most amount of air when compared to casement fans.

Keep your patio clean and tidy

Keeping your outdoor patio clean and tidy not only makes it look nicer but also helps to keep it cooler in the summer months. By keeping your patio clean, you will reduce the amount of dirt, dust, and debris that collects on the surface of the patio. This dirt and debris are then able to absorb sunlight and heat, which can lead to excessive temperatures and discomfort. By keeping your patio clean and tidy, you will also reduce the chances of pests and insects establishing themselves on your patio. Lastly, remember to clean your furniture and outdoor dartboard as well.

Don’t forget about the garden

The courtyard, the balcony, the terrace – wherever you want to enjoy a nice sunny day without getting too hot, you need to take into account the outdoor patio and make sure it’s cool enough for your favorite drink. Here are a few tips on how to keep your patio cool in summer:

  1. Install a roof or awning to protect your furniture from the sun and the rain.
  2. Use artificial or decorative plants to absorb the heat and keep your patio cooler.
  3. Use colorful cushions or parasols to add some color and cooling touch to your patio space.

Concluding thoughts

It’s been a hot summer season and the last thing you want is your outdoor patio or balcony to be unbearable. Whether you have an open-air one or an enclosed one, our tips will help keep it cool and comfortable all summer long. Follow our tips and you’ll be able to enjoy your patio or balcony in style all summer long.
