This Cabin Is A Dream Come True

“My husband used to ride his bike here since he was a kid and he would stare at this house. It belonged to some Dutch people, and when they sold it, we found out about it and bought it. It was dilapidated and dark, but we didn’t hesitate for a moment. It took us 3 years to fit it out, but we were clear that we wanted to maintain the romanticism of a lumberjack-style cabin…”, tells us Lara Vallés, from Space Stage, the owner and interior designer of this cabin.

A Living Room With An Xl Sofa Where Everyone Fits

The couple comes to this cabin when they are alone. Sometimes, the four children they bring together from their previous marriages coincide. Two on each side, “and then there are six of us at home!” Lara Vallés designed this U-shaped sofa for everyone, and next to the window to take advantage of the views.

A Very Special Fireplace

The fireplace has been covered with a paper that imitates horse skin. To lighten its appearance, floating shelves have been placed on each side, reserving the lower part as a woodshed.

All In One

And not only do they go alone or in the company of their children: “Other times we like friends to come. Then Marc gives himself to the kitchen and we are all together in this cozy living room-kitchen-office with a fireplace that we have created”, says Lara Vallés . That, precisely, is the success of this cabin: on the one hand, it has an open and social space, where the open kitchen is the protagonist; and on the other, they have separated the private area.

The Kitchen Is Open

“We designed it open, adapting ourselves to the house and its shape. The idea was that we could cook, chat, while enjoying the views. It is designed so that everything is at hand,” explains the owner and interior designer.

Cooking With A View

The island and the table are a single continuous piece of furniture. But the best thing about this kitchen is that it has a lot of natural lighting thanks to the kitchen windows. Thus, the cook has a view! Although the environment is rustic, it has been planned with all the comforts, with state-of-the-art appliances, such as the hood, which is hidden on the island, where the fire area is located.

With Integrated Furniture

The island, the kitchen countertop, the shelves with the jars and the framing of the furniture were made with Neolith, providing a more modern style to an environment in which wood is the main protagonist.

Plenty Of Storage

Since the living room lacks more furniture than the sofa and the fireplace and the office is integrated with the kitchen, one of the needs was to plan a storage space. It was made as a continuation of the kitchen and with the same design and finish.

The Light Was Made

One of the reforms carried out was to place windows in the sloping ceilings, so that the immense presence of wood does not obscure the environment too much.

Instead Of Corridor, Work Area

In the transition area to the rooms, they avoided the corridor and used the space as a study. “We created a wall-to-wall high table where we can work together. Underneath, we put a cupboard”, explains Lara.
