You’re excited to start college, and you will be busy planning the activities you want to experience as soon as possible. After you’ve unpacked and gotten your bearings, there are a few things you’ll want to experience in the iconic Freshers Week.
Make New Mates
Keep the door open in your room while you are unpacking so that you can be seen by passersby. Start off by being friendly and approachable. You will be living with them. You should go out with your housemates for the first time to one of the Fresher events the university will be hosting. Clubs and Societies
It is a great idea to explore the clubs and societies that the Uni offers during the first week. You will most likely find a Freshers Fair, where all societies will be represented. This is a great opportunity to meet people who share your interests. Do not overdo it and only choose a few societies that you are really interested in. Otherwise, you may find yourself with too many assignments. Take a bag along to the Freshers fair, as you can pick up a lot of freebies.
Learn How to Get Around
It’s now time to learn where all the things are. You’ve already found your home, met your housemates, and you know your way around. What is the closest supermarket? How long will it take to get to your lecture? Bring a friend along on your orientation mission.
Budget
This may sound boring, but it will save you from worrying when you are out and about. Make sure you know how much money you have every week. Create a budget, and stick to it, or you’ll soon be eating packs of noodles and stale bread by the end of the month. Don’t depend on student loans in the first few weeks.
