There are lots of pottery classes available that you can join at local education centres. It’s a lot more fun than watching Youtube or reading a book about it! There will be a dedicated teacher and instructor that can run you through all the basic techniques for the potter. With time you may be able to move on to some more advanced skills. You may never need to buy a teapot or mug ever again!

You are probably most looking forward to the potter’s wheel and having a go with that. It’s extremely therapeutic to throw a bit of clay onto the wheel once it’s spinning. It’s also a good idea to make sure that you get a motorised one rather than a manual one that pushes up and down with your foot. Your first efforts will probably look like something off The Generation Game but keep at it and you’ll soon find your talent.
