If, after a strong storm, you notice that some of your tiles or shingles have come loose or are missing completely, you might be wondering if there is a way that you can fix them. Whilst it is probably always best to get a professional roofer to do this for you, there are times when you might want to set a roof tile back in place yourself.
It is essential to make sure you have all the necessary equipment such as a ladder, Roof sealants like that from CT1 and someone else on hand to help you, especially when climbing up on a ladder or a cherry picker.
When you first notice that one of your tiles has moved, you should find time to put this back in place, especially if more rain and wind is forecast. It is not an emergency repair job, but you certainly don’t want to leave it too long as water could seep into the roof space. In order to replace the tiles, you should gently lift up the two tiles above the missing one and then raise the damaged tile up before gently sliding it out. You can now put the new tile in place and make sure that the two tiles above the slot are back into place.
Now is the point where you would use roof sealant around the tiles to ensure that it is fully watertight.
