Here we share with you 8 tips to sleep in summer without passing heat

Here is our list of tips to combat the suffocating heat of summer. Take note!

1. Take a shower before going to bed

tips to sleep

The first of the tips to sleep in summer without heat that we want to present you is to take a shower before going to bed. It seems obvious, but taking a cold shower in hot weather can be decisive to achieve a good rest.

Also, we recommend you do not dry with the towel after the shower and, instead, do it in the air to obtain an additional cooling reinforcement.

2. Drink a lot of water

When it is hot, the body needs more water than normal to counteract sweating. So, make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Consequently, this will also have a positive effect on your sleep.

However, you should avoid drinking large quantities before going to sleep, as it can cause you to wake up several times during the night with a full bladder and the need to go to the bathroom.

3. Open the windows

tips to sleep

One hour before going to bed, we recommend opening the windows of the room to increase air circulation and cool the room. However, you must close them before falling asleep to avoid heating the room with hot air during the night.

Keep in mind that, as you sleep, the body temperature drops to its lowest point and, similarly, the outside temperature is also somewhat lower.

  • Certainly, you should know that if you are asleep with the windows open, the muscles around your neck and head may unintentionally tense due to the sudden drop in temperature, and that may make you unravel.

Therefore, we remind you that you must keep the windows closed during the day, as well as the curtains and the blinds. This will avoid overheating the room.

4. Get a suitable pillow

The head is the hottest part of the body, so it is advisable to keep it as fresh as possible. However, most people use conventional pillows that surround the head, trapping heat. The solution is to opt for a smaller and firmer pillow. Although it is true that at the beginning they can be less comfortable, they allow a greater circulation of air.

In that sense, the foam and buckwheat pillows are ideal for the warmer months. These provide a good air circulation and excellent support for the cervical.

5. Sleep with cotton clothes

You may be tempted to undress to keep cool. However,  sleeping without clothes can make you feel warmer because it allows moisture to evaporate between your body and the surface to sleep.

Therefore, we recommend using cotton clothes when going to bed, in addition to avoiding synthetic fabrics such as nylon or silk. The latter is not breathable and, consequently, cause you to feel warmer.

6. Avoid alcohol and heavy meals

tips to sleep

The Alcohol and heavy foods increase your body temperature.  In this way, they make the dream even more difficult to reconcile, not to mention that they have an unfortunate tendency to make the dream unstable.

In summer, try to avoid both alcohol and heavy meals during the hours before your break.

7. Refreshes the bedding in the freezer

In this case, we recommend putting the sheets in a plastic bag. Then, put them directly in the freezer in the morning.

Once the time comes to bed, the bedding will be fresh to ensure a good rest.

8. Clean your face, hands, and feet

tips to sleep

The last of the tips that we put at your disposal to sleep in summer without passing heat is to use a damp cloth or a towel on the side to wet your face, hands, and feet throughout the night.  Once you have moistened these parts of your body, dry yourself with a towel before going to sleep.

We recommend buying special towels that are made of a hyper-evaporative material, so they retain water, but they stay dry to the touch. You will notice how they get cool without getting your skin wet!

Finally, do not forget that sleeping in summer without passing heat is not easy due to the high temperatures. However, you can get it if you take our tips to sleep in summer. We wish you good luck and a good rest!
