The activation code for a Lasting Power of Attorney – LPA – code is a unique 13-character code beginning with “C”, issued by the Office of the Public Guardian, or OPG. It enables an attorney to add a registered LPA to their online account at GOV.UK. It forms part of the letter confirming registration which is sent out once the LPA has been approved.

Activation
The activation code can be used only once and is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. Once it has been added to the attorney’s “Use Your LPA” account, the activation code can be used to generate “V-codes” which identify important information such as the extent of the attorney’s powers and the donor’s details.
